I'm with you on the 3.2% beer. My wife recently took a tour of the Labatt Brewery in Canada and they showed the group some 3.2% beer and the tour guide couldn't believe they still have to brew it. She explained some of it was probably slated for Colorado.

As you know, the grocery stores will probably end up just selling the "yellow" stuff anyway and not much local craft beer, so it would give the liquor stores a chance to specialize a bit. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Found your site while searching for other Colorado beer blogs. Good to find another Colorado beer enthusiast.

I'm personally excited about Sunday liquor sales. There have been way too many times that I wanted to buy brew on Sundays and found myself without some of my favorite brews (craft beer that is). I simply wouldn't even consider buying 3.2 beer from a grocery store. I'm hoping that this law will phase out the need for 3.2 beer in this state. I fear that grocery stores and convenience stores will lose out on this new law and will end up losing revenues, however, even if they could stock up on full strength beer, they simply don't have the shelf space to compete with full service liquor stores. I'm afraid that liquor stores would simply go out of business if they ever had to compete with large chain stores. Imagine if Wal Mart, King Soopers and Safeway all had huge liquor sections. They could buy in bulk and put liquor stores out of business. Liquor store owners are limited to just one license and can't buy in bulk like big chain stores could. So perhaps its a good thing, otherwise our favorite corner liquor stores and all of their owners would close up.
